Funeral costs

Just as the funeral options are very varied, so are the costs. Cremations are generally cheaper than burials but cost is dependant on many choices such as type of coffin, place of burial, method of transport and even time and place of funeral.

As a local independent funeral director we can help advise on the options and costs to give you the funeral you want at a budget you can afford. You can contact us to discuss the options at anytime for your own or a loved ones funeral. Its not unusual for either to be discussed in advanced and it can make things easier to cope with at what will be a difficult time when it comes.

We will confirm all arrangements to you in writing and provide an estimate of all costs likely to be incurred so there are no hidden extras.

The cost of a funeral is made up of two parts.  The Funeral Director’s charges and the third-party costs and disbursements.

The Funeral Director’s charges cover the agreed services and products offered by the Funeral Director (professional services, conveyance, vehicles, coffin, etc).  The third-party costs cover items like crematorium fees, doctor’s fees, cemetery fees, minister\celebrant’s fees, etc.

Price list

Funeral Directors are required to provide a ‘Standardised Price List.  This is rigidly set by regulators and not necessarily aimed at what individual families require.  Please note that we still provide our traditional flexible services and products that we have been proud to offer for the last 25 years.  Further details can be found on the Optional Price List.

Funeral plans

Talking about death and funerals isn’t easy. These are essential, non-funeral director services such as the cremation or burial fees, plus the minister or officiant’s fee to perform the service.  The value of the allowance included in your plan may grow over time. There will only be more to pay at the time of the funeral if the third party costs exceed the allowance when you buy your plan, or if the costs increase by more than the growth of your plan.
